An Oshawa General Outlook For 2011

Being right at the salary cap stopped the Oshawa Generals from going after any free agents during the offseason. A few attempts at trades has also met with frustration.   Starting SS Juan Suarez opted for the free agency route and signed with Carson City.  His spot will be filled from within the organization.
This is how the pitching rotation for the Oshawa Generals looks for the 2011 season:
STARTING PITCHING
Soong-yong Che age 22 (Rating B)
You know that Oshawa are in trouble with their “ace” is a 22 year old with 12 ML …

Oshawa React to Poor Start

When your team is not winning, sleep is but a distant memory.  With a 2-8 record, Norm Viger cannot remember the last time his head felt the touch of a pillow.
Tomorrow the Oshawa Generals start a 6 game road trip.  Even without sleep Viger could be living his nightmare just the same.  How does a team who made no moves after a pretty good season sink to such a low?
Granted it is early, but the season will pass quickly and every day where moves are delayed, becomes another day lost.
Suddenly …

Oshawa Fans Get Revenge

Several bus loads of Oshawa General fans made the long trek to Sioux Falls this month to watch a two game series between the Generals and the Uber Giraffes.
After the commissioners(Also the GM of Sioux Falls) decision to support a league rule which voided a trade by Oshawa for ace Dave Henderson, General fans made CBU commissioner Jordan Gillis public enemy number one.  The hope was that the visitors could show that even without Henderson the team could still do some damage to Sioux Falls.  While Oshawa was over 10 …

CBU’s 1st All-Star Game

July 14th 2009 | Princeton Fieldhouse
44,686 fans were in attendance in the Princeton Fieldhouse as the best of the best in the Classic Baseball Union battled it out in the league’s first All-Star game. On a cool night with a slight wind the Landis League and Giamatti League All-Stars took to the field for the 7:05 game time to begin writing history. Taking the mound was Whitehorse’s ace Gustavo Diaz versus Gaston Couture of New Orleans. Couture would go on to line out to centerfield, Sioux Falls’s Bryan Wigmore would …

Oshawa Fans Upset with Commissioner

Earlier this week the Oshawa Generals thought that they had landed another superstar pitcher to go along with Jeffrey Robinson and Eric Carter.  The trade was announced as Dave Henderson from Rapid City going to Oshawa for AAA starter Soong-yong Che and recently drafted SP Jesus Toro.
However, a question was raised as to the eligibility of Toro to be traded.  It appears that there is a league rule stating that all first year drafted players may not be traded for one season.  The problem arose when it did not appear …

Oshawa’s Galindo Takes the League by Storm

Leonard Galindo had spent the first half of the season playing for Osahwa’s AAA team, the Barrie Colts, literally chomping at the bit for a chance to play with the Generals.  While his while his .336 average and 22 home runs could not get him a call to the big club, an injury to star centre fielder Jake Straub did the trick.
The first week saw Galindo struggle but he was left in the line up and given the chance to do his thing.  Week two saw the change.   Not only …

Oshawa Extend Robinson Contract

At the start of the season, Oshawa General ace Jeffrey Robinson had indicated to the club that he had no intension of extending his one year contract and would test the free agency market.

However, the agent for Robinson advised the club that the pitcher had a change of heart and for the right amount, would like to continue his career with Oshawa.  With this change of situation, both sides got out their pencils and paper in order to work out some kind of deal that was fair to both sides.
General …

Oshawa Generals Continue to Roll

The Oshawa Generals finished up the last set of games with an 8-5 record which enabled them to hold on to first place in the Finley Division.
The highlight of the round was the sweeping of the West Tennesse Diamond Jaxx.  The Jaxx were held to only one run in the three games.  While the Generals bats were relatively quiet, the pitching staff was sharp enough to provide the margin of victory in each game.  Relief pitcher Jackson Stone had a hand in each win.  In game one he pitched one …

Good and Bad News for Oshawa

Overall the last series of games were very good for Oshawa.
The good news is that the Generals are sitting at the top of the Finley Division and have the third best overall record at 13-10.  They are also tied with Akron for the best home record at 10-4.
The highlight of the latest round of games came when the team took three at home from Sioux Falls.  The powerful Uber Giraffes were held to 7 runs over the three games.  The icing on the cake was the fact that they were not …

April Finished and CBU is Shining

In the last four months the Classic Baseball Union was not only born, it has taken the world by storm. After the complete fallout of Major League Baseball and its lack of good moral character throughout the game it has found that it is no longer a super power and is very vulnerable to take over. The Classic Baseball Union which was built on integrity, structure, and high expectations has delivered in every way. Spring training was exciting, and after one month of baseball its fair enough to say …
