In Sioux Falls, there are no parties tonight, there isn’t even many happy campers. The best regular season team in the Landis League will spend another offseason empty handed thanks to the Houston Woodland. Cameron Copeland who had been lights out all season leading the CBU in saves could not nail the door shut to send Sioux Falls to the CBU World Series. VC Memorial Park to Host 10-Millionth Visitor

In its third season hosting CBU baseball games, Vic Chestnut Memorial Park will see the 10,000,000 patron walk through its gates. Number 10-million is expected to activate the turnstile sometime during the upcoming September 19 – 21 series versus the Akron Dandies.

World Series Champions: Portland Lions

The best of the regular season won out in the playoffs in 2010. The Portland Lions who won 115 times through their tour of 2010 Giamatti League opponents made their postseason trip short and sweet. Pitching was the name of the game for the Lions as they were led by a rotation who all had double digit wins: Chris Bruce 15 wins, Ron Hatch 16 wins, Phil Farrell 17 wins, Mark Owens 14 wins, and Shawn Roberts 10 wins.

Orlando, FL (AP): The Orlando Orcas faced the Portland Lions in their 2nd consecutive CBU World Series. The Lions had the best Regular season record with a mark of 115-47. Classic Baseball Union’s 2nd season gets underway

Fans lined up to the gates. Players dug into the batter’s boxes. Pitchers toed the rubber. The Classic Baseball Union kicked off its second season this week.
It was an opening week where newly acquired Burlington ace Earl Grant, signed to a lucrative 5-year $29 million dollar contract in the offseason, lasted just 3.1 innings in Portland on 4 hits and 5 earned runs. CBU’s 1st All-Star Game

July 14th 2009 | Princeton Fieldhouse
44,686 fans were in attendance in the Princeton Fieldhouse as the best of the best in the Classic Baseball Union battled it out in the league’s first All-Star game. On a cool night with a slight wind the Landis League and Giamatti League All-Stars took to the field for the 7:05 game time to begin writing history. Oshawa Fans Upset with Commissioner

Earlier this week the Oshawa Generals thought that they had landed another superstar pitcher to go along with Jeffrey Robinson and Eric Carter.  The trade was announced as Dave Henderson from Rapid City going to Oshawa for AAA starter Soong-yong Che and recently drafted SP Jesus Toro.
