CBU’s 1st All-Star Game

44,686 fans were in attendance in the Princeton Fieldhouse as the best of the best in the Classic Baseball Union battled it out in the league’s first All-Star game. On a cool night with a slight wind the Landis League and Giamatti League All-Stars took to the field for the 7:05 game time to begin writing history. Important Road Series Looming for Rapid City

On Wednesday, May 20th, the Rapid City Outlaws will use their off day to make the long journey north to Whitehorse for a key 4-game series. Located in the vast Yukon Territory of Canada, Whitehorse is a lengthy 2000-plus mile jaunt from the Black Hills of South Dakota. Do the Outlaws Have a Position Controversy?

While Rapid City’s coaches are adamant that a platoon at 1B is the correct strategy, fans and upper management aren’t quite as confident. Up to this point in the season, the Outlaws have been starting left-handed Don Vogel against right-handed hurlers and right-handed Patrick Anthony against southpaws. This configuration been reaping rewards for the Giamatti League’s 2nd most potent offense, but management is beginning to wonder how long Vogel will accept this platoon role.

Rapid City Breaks Camp

The Rapid City Outlaws successfully wrapped up their spring training schedule earlier this week with a 10-3 victory over the Princeton Black Squirrels.  While some players impressed and others disappointed, the win capped a successful month for the franchise, who finished with a 15-9 record.
