Tacoma Darners 1995 CBU Champions
October 26th, 1995 – The Darners of Tacoma win the second CBU Championship after finishing off the Brooklyn Blue Sox in six games. With this win the Landis League has won two straight championships over the Giamatti League.
The Tacoma Darners were led by catcher Robby Harper (.265 34 121) and right fielder Juan Rodriguez (.248 27 99) as well as pitcher Kyle Moore (16-13 2.85 138K). Despite the lack luster dominance the Darners coasted through in all the rights times and places.
84 wins was all that it took to win the division in 1995. They faced the Wisconsin Cheese in the first round and made quick work of them in a three game sweep. Brainerd pushed Tacoma to seven games but could not close out Tacoma in three straight games. Brooklyn was the last team in line and did fair well at all in the CBU Championship Series.
The 1995 Tacoma championship season is nothing short of unlikely, full of miracle after miracle and the beauty of baseball.
