October 27th, 2012 – The Wisconsin Cheese made quick work of Nashville in the The CBU Championship Series and swept them. They cinched their 1st Classic Baseball Union crown today at Legends Ballpark with a 3-0 victory over the Legends.

During the regular season play, the Cheese notched a 100-62 record and wound up in first place in the Landis League Finley Division race. Nashville won their second consecutive Giamatti League pennant, and 3rd overall, but for the second straight year failed to win a game versus the Landis League.

CBU’s Ace, Alex Moss, wins his third championship, and first with Wisconsin. Moss dominated yet again with 22 wins, 2.65 ERA and 246 strike outs on the season. Moss was also lights out in the postseason going 4-0 with a 2.18 ERA, while striking out 30 in 41 innings.

However, Moss was not the only star for the Cheese thsi season, Jack Burgess crushed 58 homers to lead the CBU as well. Gabe Roberts added 39 homers, Wilbert Whaley hit 29 while batting .320, and catcher George Leonard slammed 26 homers of his own.

The Cheese won with power pitching and power hitting and were quite successful. They represented the 13th championship for the Landis League. The Giamatti is stuck on 6.
