Oh Canada! Dijon ride Coté to 2nd Championship

Dijon Moutarde
October 29, 2006 – Its a National holiday in Eastern Canada today as the Moutarde Baseball Club return from Galveston, TX. The Moutarde breezed through the CBU Championship series with the Bayhawks in give games.
Robert Coté was the hero this time around from Dijon starting in games 2 and 5 closing out the series. Cote stands just 5’9, but the young Canadian from Winnpeg, dominated CBU hitters all season long and did not slow down a lick in the playoffs. Cote should be a lock for the Sandy Koufax pitching award.
In the divisional series, Cote got the game one start and lost the game. Then he came back in game four and through a 1-walk, no-hitter! Cote would then close out Tacoma in game 7 of that series. Cote pitched twice in the Landis League Championship Series versus the Wisconsin Cheese and won and lost a game. Cote finished a season 22-6 with a 221 ERA and 254 K in 256 IP. Cote tallied another 50.2 IP in the playoffs with a 4-1 record, 1.95 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
It wasn’t all Cote in Dijon though, the entire pitching staff was really good with Curt Thurman (14-14), Adam Smith (17-10), and Daniel Trewhells (13-6). Also Francisque Monsaraz pitched in 75 games, closing down 52 of them with saves.
Dijon also lead the Landis in slugging percentage with Ron Buck, Dave Lawhorn, Ken Morris, and Reid McLean all crushing more than 20 homers on the season.
Dijon tallies another championship for the Landis League. This win marks the 8th Landis League winner, versus just 5 for the Giamatti League.
