November 2, 2010 – Koz’s boys finally do it. The CBU’s most vibrant owner finally gets his first CBU Championship ring. The Buffalo Wings today defeated the Durham Dragons 3-1 in a game 6 home game to seal the series.

The Buffalo Wings win their first Rickey Division championship since 1999, and make the most of the playoff opportunity. The Wings were led on offense by LF Jerry Hendricks who led the way with a .307 batting average, 27 home runs, and 111 runs batted in.

From the mound right hander José Martínez was the ace that led the way with 14 wins and a 3.09 earned run average. The Wings were far from dominating during the season, but they won with the best defense in the league (.283 BABIP allowed). They also kept guys off the basepaths by allowing the least amount of walks in the Landis League.  The hitters however did lead in extra base hits by slamming doubles and triples off the deep walls of the Buffalo outfield.

Koz was quoted being quite a wreck after the victory:

“We won, but we’re a bad team. We should have swept everybody. Anything short of dominating teams every season, every day is unacceptable. Look I’m glad we won. But I might have to break up this team. They won, but they’re not winners. We need winners in Buffalo. When’s the new season start?”

One would expect a bit more cheer from the woeful owner, but the city of Buffalo has shut down for a three day weekend…Due to high volumes of snow. The parade will be held on TV, as the eight feet of snow surrounding the area will prevent any real access to the players.

The Landis League gets back on track and continues its dominance over the Giamatti League with 11 Championships to 6.
