November 3rd, 2015 - This is the time of the year when grown men are sometimes reduced to tears. This year the Redbank Bandits shed tears of joy and the Vermont Greens shed some sad ones, all because of a baseball game.

The Bandits eliminated the Greens today 8-3 at VC Memorial Park and locked up their 2nd Classic Baseball Union The CBU Championship Series championship, winning the series 4-3.

The Bandits finished the regular season in the Landis League Finley Division with a 94-68 record, ending up in first place in the division standings. They dominated the Landis League in runs scored, on-base + slugging percentage, and home runs. They also were second in pitching ERA, defense, and featured the best bullpen.

If you are a fan of the strikeout, you weren’t a fan of Redbank games this season, they struck out the 2nd least amount, and were also second in lead amount of times striking out on offense.

Jose Garcia is the heart and soul of the Bandits, crushing 60 home runs in 2016 while hitting .276. Garcia drove in 118 runs to lead the Bandits in run producing while playing a solid left and center field positions depending on the day. Tomás Perez also chimed in with 39 home runs from the catcher positionn to provide offense in a spot that normally is easily forgotten.

The definition for starting pitching in Redbank is: Forgettable. Shawn Woods and Howard Evans both had good years, but they did their job of passing the ball to closer Randy Reynolds who netted 47 saves over the season.

The Landis League has now won 5 of the last 6 championships over the Giamatti League who will almost need a decade of dominace to even catch up. Lifetime series: 15 for the Landis League, 7 for the Giamatti League.
