Loblaw Invests Money Into Rapid City Stadium

August 1992: Rapid City native and high-profile lawyer Bob Loblaw has invested $50 million into local landmark, Curley Grimes Memorial Field. Loblaw has yet to comment on as to why he would make such a large investment into a stadium that has not hosted a team in over 20 years. The lack of any information out of Loblaw’s office has only added to the wildfire of speculation that is running rampant through the small city. Many residents believe this move could be a precursor to a high level baseball team moving into the area.

While mum has been the word from Loblaw and his associates, it has been announced that a deal has been reached between the South Dakota High School Baseball Association and Mr. Loblaw. Stipulations of the agreement state that the newly revitalized stadium will host the Class A and Class B state baseball tournaments for at least the next decade. There are also rumors that American Legion Post 22 and their intercity rival Post 320 are in serious negotiations to use the facilities to host both clubs’ home games next summer.
