WBC Simulation 1
Simulation Highlights
After dropping a very tough opener at home, the WBC turned around and opened up a solid three series wins against Oshawa, Carson City and Peoria outscoring their opponents by a narrow Margin of 56 to 47, enabling a 6-3 record.
Game one saw a WBC kick-start as Stewart smashed a solo shot on the first strike thrown to him, however the club lost control of the score boards in the third and came close to a recovery in fifth, but ultimately didn’t have the momentum to go further.
On the next night, however, the wheels began to turn and Liriano lead the team deep into the eight allowing two runs and leaving it up to Mendoza to finish it off. Overall, this 5-2 victory came out of effective base running and clutch 2-out RBI production which Kulk and Blackburn were more than happy to produce.
Finally, the highlight game of this series was game three in which an assortment of long balls and a second night of clutch hitting produce a very uneven score and right from the start, the bats were hot. In fact, Stewart stepped up to the plate and took the first pitch deep only to be followed by a two run shot later in the inning by Steele. At this point, the pace was set and the momentum was in full favor of the WBC. In addition, Blackburn had a solid 3 for 4 night and Moss picked up the victory after being pulled out in the eight with 101 pitches thrown, six Ks and two walks.
The silver Strikers were next up and received no mercy as well as the WBC picked up its second series win but losing a big one in the middle by allowing 16 hits and 14 runs. This, however, was only a scratch on the surface as the heart of the rotation was able to keep the other two games in control. Martin took the award home as the biggest producer here picking up his second long ball of the season and the club maintained their lead in the division.
The final series against Peoria swayed back and forth but ended in two big nights of scoring and the series under the WBCs belt. Thus leaving plenty of smiles on the faces of our fans and making a positive stride towards possible end of the year expectations!
