CLOSING IN on the LL FRAZEE!

Orlando, FL (AP): It’s almost October and the CBU’s first season is almost in the books. The teams around the league are fighting to get into the post-season. Who will become the CBU’s first ever Playoff teams?
The Orcas currently sit atop the LL Frazee division with an 81-63 record. The New Orleans Voodoo (75-69) sit 6 games behind and are in 2nd place. The High Point Rail Riders (59-85) sit in 3rd place and are 22 games out. The West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx (40-104) are bringing up the rear and are 41 games out. The Diamond Jaxx are also the CBU team to eclipse 100 losses in a season. The Orcas are struggling in September as they recorded a 4-9 record and need to step things up if they want to capture the LL Frazee division title.

P José Rojas
Orcas Middle Reliever, José Rojas has been playing well the last 20 games. He had an ERA of 1.80. On the season, Rojas has appeared in 34 games. In 41.2 innings, Rojas has recorded 28 K’s, 13 BBs, and an ERA of 1.73. At age 26, Rojas is in the prime of his career and still has many seasons left. The Orcas need Rojas to keep them in games during the middle innings for them to have a shot at capturing the LL Frazee division and making a run in the post-season.

P Matt Walker
Orcas Setup Reliever, Matt Walker has shined in the last 16 games. He had a 1-1 record and an ERA of 1.15. On the season, Walker has a 10-5 record in 70 appearances. In 85.2 innings, Walker has recorded 77 K’s, 26 BB’s, and an ERA of 2.73. Walker has a lot of upside potential and should improve as he gets more action. The Orcas need Walker to elevate his game down the stretch. Can Walker respond to the challenge and show his true star potential?

CL Wilson Franklin
Orcas Closer, Wilson Franklin has been on a roll the past 17 games. He has 3 saves and an ERA of 1.42. On the season, In 74 appearances, Franklin has a 7-2 record. In 86.1 innings, Franklin has 107 K’s, 16 BB’s, 4 saves, and an ERA of 2.50. Franklin throws some unbelievable pitches out there and many of his pitches can be seen on Sportscenter with opposing batters staring at the final strike in disbelief. The Orcas know that they can count on Franklin when the game is on the line. He’s one of those players who can just bring the opposing lineup to a halt. Look for him to continue his domination of the final innings of a game!

The air waves at 1080AM ESPN Orlando have been buzzing about the chase in the LL Frazee. The Voodoo have been playing well in September and the Orcas have gotten a little complacent. The Orcas need to step up their level of play and put this thing away. One of the callers that called in was talking about a curse that the Voodoo placed on the team. The caller was pretty determined and serious about ‘Black Magic’ playing a role in the Orcas struggles. Could that caller be on to something? Or, will the Orcas be just fine as many of their fans feel?
