The Sioux Falls Uber Giraffes opened up their pocket books for the first time since the start of the season and signed the 32-year-old outfielder Santiago Silva of Panama to a 3-year-deal worth 45 million dollars and change. The deal will take Silva a local fan favorite through 35 years old and is a considerable raise over his previous 1 year 11 million dollar deal he signed preseason.

The Uber Giraffes front office was pretty quiet on the deal, mostly noted for having 6 other big name free agents to deal with, but offered that they are only starting to lock up the team that is dominating the CBU right now.

Santiago after getting the call from his agent immediately signed the deal and called his family back in Panama while fighting through tears. “A dream come true, I really appreciate the Sioux Falls organization for seeing my talent, and I will perform at my best to fulfill my commitment to the team, organization, and the city of Sioux Falls.” said Silva through an interpreter.

There were really no rumors circulating around the deal, it appears that the two sides came together fairly quickly, Silva looking for a raise and a 3 year deal, the Giraffes looking to lock up their lead off hitter and left fielder just long enough to win a couple more seasons. A win win situation for both parties.
