Sioux Falls Wins Finley Division!

The Sioux Falls Uber Giraffes finished September 18-11 and the season with a 102-60 record. While the Finley division was fairly strong and as a whole above .500 in comparison to the Fraley division, Sioux Falls plowed its way through the division allowing a slow job across the finish line.
The Uber Giraffes were lead by the bats of Bryan Wigmore, Nick Donovan, Santiago Silva, River Gordon, Javier Esquivel, and Andrew Scott. The Uber Giraffes lead the Landis League in batting average, on-base percentage, OPS, runs scored, hits, walks, and the …

Minors League Wrap Up: Sioux Falls

The Sioux Falls Uber Giraffes are cruising to their first Landis League Finley Division championship of hopefully many. This report will be a focus on the players who may be contributing to the Sioux Falls success down the road.  To begin we will start with the newest faces in the Morris Buttermaker Rookie League where Sioux Falls affiliate the James River Pintails finished with a strong 35-27 record, but yet finished 3rd in the division.
While the wins and losses are not as important in the minor leagues, any player needs …

Veeck Wreck: Dandies by Default?

All season long the clubs that make up the CBU’s Veeck Division have lived with the possibility that the entire division might finish under .500. Talk began immediately this spring after the division posted a paltry 35-61 combined Spring Training record, and continued straight through the All Star break. While experts haven’t routinely agreed on much during this inaugural CBU season, there’s one issue they have no doubts about: the Veeck Division is the weakest in all of baseball.
An intra-division trade between the Akron Dandies and Redbank Bandits …

CBU Sporting News Journal ed. 1: “The Run for History”

As the last month of CBU Baseball is beginning and the division leaders are becoming more apparent, the question on everyone’s mind is who will be the post season sensations set in stone. Keeping in mind that my knowledge of this league is still in its infancy, I hope to only state the obvious until the details of what looks to be a very promising league becomes less barren in relation to my understanding of the teams and the players in it. With this in mind, I feel it is …

One Phish, Two Phish, Dead Phish, Blue Phish

Aug. 22
REDBANK PA — A sour note for the Burlington Phishheads in today’s 10-2 blowout win over Redbank was starting pitcher Gunnar Elmore leaving the game with a stiff back in the fourth inning.
Juan Guerra came in for one pitch and was credited with the win, after Elmore couldn’t finish the inning. The visitors tacked up four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good and Guerra (4-9) got the cheapest of  decisions.
Elmore was pitching well, having given up two runs on three hits in …

River Gordon Returns From DL, Signs Extension

Sioux Falls Uber Giraffe catcher River Gordon came off the disabled list today and immediately signed a 3 year deal worth just a hair over 45 million dollars. The 35-year old fan favorite was extremely excited to put pen to paper the week that he is scheduled to return to action. Gordon was injured in mid-July with a torn quadriceps in his right leg and the Sioux Falls medical team held Gordon out an extra week just to make sure everything is working alright. Because Sioux Falls has the division …
